Our current health care model does not focus on health care, but rather, disease care. The majority of people wait to go
to the doctor until they are sick and the disease process has already begun. The focus becomes treating the disease, often with strong drugs, rather than finding the underlying cause.
Naturopathy combines modern medical science with time-proven healing traditions to provide a holistic model of primary care medicine. Naturopathic medicine is the true meaning of health care. It focuses on creating health to remove sickness, while finding the cause, as well as the cure. It is very cost-effective and uses preventive care to educate people on how to live a more healthy life.
We view symptoms as the body’s way of communicating that there is an underlying problem. Treatment is targeted at correcting this underlying imbalance. With this approach, symptoms do not worsen over time or require the routine use of prescription drugs. Naturopathy emphasizes wellness in its basic approach to medicine.
Naturopathic physicians provide primary care medicine for the whole family. We help people to get well and stay well naturally. The basic tenets of naturopathic medicine are: To look at each patient holistically and not as individual symptoms or unrelated parts; to identify and treat the cause of disease; to use the healing power of nature and the innate wisdom of the body to bring about the healing process; to use treatments that do not also bring harm to the body; and to educate patients on natural health while promoting prevention as the best cure for disease.

Hello Dr Shield,
I am very impressed with your post..love it so much !
To agree with you, I also find naturopathy is a real way of treating an illness from the root caused of the problem than using drugs to suppress the problem.
I started to truly believe and have interest in this type of preventive cure about only 5 or 6 years ago when I was learning massage from my coach who is also a naturopath.
Honestly, being a chinese, myself, we were brought up to get used to rely on traditional medicine for prevention of illness.
Thank you very much for your information !
Cheers
